My Book is McKay's Western Society Since 1300, but i doenst have to be from this book....I WILL TAKE ANY NOTES ...as long as they are trustworthy

Here’s a copy and paste of a facebook note I wrote for my friends concerning AP Euro:

Essential Four:

AP Achiever McGraw-Hill Study Guide - This study book is excellent in all respects: [Amazon.com: AP Achiever (Advanced Placement* Exam Preparation Guide) for European History (College Test Prep): Chris Freiler: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Achiever-Advanced-Placement-Preparation-European/dp/0073256722)
The review is terrific, the practice questions are spot-on, and the wording isn’t boring or hard to follow. I used it as a textbook replacement because the textbook is really hard to understand… there is too much excess detail and terrible chronology. The best way to go though would be to read the textbook chapter and supplement it with the study book.
I highly recommend you order it. It’s not available in stores, but you can find it on any bookstore website. I will leave my copy of it with someone next year (bonus margin scribblings! Any takers?).

[Hank’s History Hour](http://hankshistoryhour.com/)
Hank Nelson is my hero and I completely and wholeheartedly recommend him for anyone. I found it very good to study by taking notes while listening, not breaking away to do something else as I normally would. He’s amazing, you’ll see.

AP Central Released Essays -
[AP Central - The AP European History Exam](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board)
Official AP site with previous free response releases… not only does it have scoring guidelines and examples, but also complete lists of facts and explanations about all the questions! Terrific for understanding specific topics better and in the context the CollegeBoard expects to test.

Skeletal outline of our McKay textbook
[AP Euro McKay Outline](http://www.scribd.com/doc/6532/AP-Euro-McKay-Outline)
A good tool for reading for those of us who need a little structure for the content of those endless pages. Really, you should read the textbook.

A few miscellaneous sites, also helpful:
[History Study Guides - SparkNotes](http://www.sparknotes.com/history/#european)
http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/ap/reviewques.html
[Advanced Placement (AP) European History](http://highschoolsurvivalguide.com/APEuro.html) <— has some good links for other sites and has good general info about test format and techniques.
[Dr. Sanderson’s History Classes](http://www.angelfire.com/tx/sandersonAP/) <– the notes on the left-hand bar are very useful.
This Dr. Sanderson does podcasts too, in the spirit of Hank… except he’s boring. Only resort to Sanderson podcasts for desperate Cold War and Nationalism, which Hank never posted because he was busy with track season. Otherwise, avoid listening to Sanderson - just read him.

And… I believe those are the chief resources that helped me through this year. Hope you can get something out of it!

Make sure to mark and count up the questions you skipped and the ones you think you got wrong. So when you’re done beasting the test (or otherwise feel like you failed miserably…), here’s something that can surprisingly make you feel better: [AP European History Exam Grade Calculator](http://tech-shep.com/Calculate/APEuroGrade.php)

I would have to agree w/ jen89ob about 1 and 3, it is all I used for self study, and I got a 4. I’m not a super great writer either.

AP Achiever is the best review book for Euro ever.

and practicing writing essays is important, particularly the DBQ so you know the scoring objectives without thinking.

Why are the McKay Outlines start at Chapter 13? Are there more somewhere?

AP Achiever. My teacher swears by it. It helped SO much. The practice tests are the only ones that are actually similar to the real exam. Whatever you do, don’t get Kaplan.

futureteacher09
The version of the textbook that is used for AP Euro starts at Chapter 13. They basically cut a normal-sized textbook in half because the test doesn’t cover the first 1300 years of AD human history… just the parts after the bubonic plague.

And yes. Please stay far away from everything Kaplan…

hahahah sorry…i just decided to open my book to find out that it did start and Chapter 12…hahahah sry…thanks for the outlinies! I printed them all out already! hahahahha thanks!

NO KAPLAN! GOT IT!

Do you happen to have anything that will help me with AP Human Geo and/or AP World
Any outlines and sites/words of wisdom for those two?

Ahh unfortunately I didn’t take either of those exams - but a good way to find a study guide is looking on Amazon at the different books and the reviews on them. You can get a pretty good gauge of whether you’d want to purchase it based on people’s comments.
For most of my study resources, I either looked around CC or googled for “AP ______ outline” or something similar and surfed until a good site came up.

Best wishes!

for ap world:

[Course Notes](http://www.coursenotes.com) has wonderful outlines that go with each chapter of two different ap world textbooks.

what did you get on your ap test?

^ I second Course Notes, and also Hank’s History Hour.

Here’s a great website that has terms, quizzes, and even hank’s history lectures! I used it throughout the whole class and got a 5, no problem.

http://www.robertsapguide.co.cc/

Try robertsapguide.co.nr – it has a lot of quizzes and notes! One of my students who made a 5 on the exam complied his notes and review quizzes into one site!

Typically, and this is to aid students in the future who are self-studying or want to reaffirm their knowledge, I watch an AP Euro lecturer who records his classes and compiles his lectures. [Roger Stip - YouTube](Roger Stip - YouTube)
