I’ve put in so much effort this year into the class, but I am not naturally ingenious like the majority of CC users are, so it really hasn’t paid off: I have an 89% right now. This is a good grade, but it really does not reflect all the effort I have put in. That being said, I want to show my Euro teacher that I can not only pass the AP Euro test in May but also get a four or five instead of the typical three that almost everyone else gets. However, the school that I go to isn’t that great, and this whole year I’ve been independently studying, but I’ve forgotten everything and need to review it starting now.
What books would you suggest helped you pass this test? I just got the McGraw-Hill AP Achiever and it was EXPENSIVE. Has anyone else used this? When did you start studying for the test? GIVE ME ANY TIPS YOU HAVE!!

Why do you need to impress your teacher again?

Anyway what I’m using are the RE:A crash course, which I’m planning on memorizing in its entirety… shouldn’t be too hard, and Viault’s Modern European History, which I’ll probably just end up skimming through once or twice. I also have a couple other prep books that my paranoia forced me to buy, none of which I have even opened yet. I’ll probably use the latter prep books to reinforce the information that was written in a somewhat confusing manner in REA/MEH. Both REA CC and MEH have good reviews overall on CC, so idk.

Yup. CC is solid and relatively cheap. I’ve heard that the Princeton Book is amazing, but I can’t comment. I’m using a combination of the 5 Steps to a 5(you can download it for free), CC and my notes.

And make sure you practice writing all of the different essay. Knowing the stuff is only half the battle.

I used Princeton Review last year and got a 5 on the exam. Make sure to cram hard the weekend before, make sure you know how to write a thesis perfectly and remember to not spend too much time planning for your essays. Also try and take the previously released MC practice, I think we took about two of them in class. If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask :)

I read AP Achiever last year starting in mid April. I also used Crash Course for the multiple choice. I got a 5. You can do it!

Well, I’m self-studying, and I guess I’ll just give you a review of the books I have so far xD

Crash Course: It doesn’t go into much detail, but it gives you a general idea of all of the important topics you need to know.

Modern European History: This goes into EXTREME detail xD Almost every single thing there is to know about Europe since the 1300s is in this book. I think the AP exam is only on 1400-2001. This book was also written in 1990, so you’re missing 10 years (although there most likely won’t be anything after 1990).

Barron’s: I think this is a good mediator between the aforementioned two. It goes into some detail, but not too much. I think it’s okay, but I would recommend Princeton Review, more.

I wish I could review PR, but I’m waiting for the 2015 edition to come out. I’m taking the exam in 2015, so I don’t have to worry about that, yet :)

Here’s just some general advice. Make sure you know how to write the essays! The DBQ follows a specific rubric, so it’s crucial you know how to do well on it. Also, to get a 5, you only need to get 70% of the questions right! A 4 is only 58%, and a 3 is just 42%! Of course, if you want a 5, you should aim for at least 80%. The score cutoffs aren’t definite every year; these are just the cutoffs from the 2004 exam. The 2009 curve is a little easier, but since every year it changes, it’s best to use the harder one. If you take a few practice tests and get a 90%, it should be good enough for you to get a 5! :D

~Hope this helped!

I took AP Euro online–so I don’t know what to expect.

How much do you know? If about…hmm…the 1848 revolutions for example?

How specific does this get?

Bumping this thread.

I used AP Achiever (Mainly) and Crashcourse the night before. MEH is also GREAT for euro.
CC is good for MC
AP Achiever/EH for essays
as long as you have a decent enough foundation from the years just being able to place relevant facts and logical arguments with the time period( industrial, french rev, russian rev, totalitarianism , renaissance , reformation, ww1,ww2,cold war)
