Best biological science schools?

I’m looking for a school with a very good, broad biological science program (not pre-med). I’m having lots of trouble trusting that US News Report thing.

US News does not rank or evaluate undergraduate biology programs.

For some schools to research further, you can search for a CollegeXpress list, “Colleges to consider if you want to study biology.”

Asking which colleges have the best biology programs is like asking, “which grocery store has the best milk.”

Nearly every college has biology…it’s a staple. It’s good everywhere because it’s not hard to have a good program.

Tell us more about yourself. Stats? Home state? How much your family will pay? Career goal with bio??

@mom2collegekids is right. Biology is a staple.

You said in another post that you live in TX and are in the top 7% of your class. Doesn’t that get you guaranteed admission to one of your state schools? How much can your parents pay per year? Your 29 ACT is good, but if you could increase it a couple points you’d have a better chance of qualifying for merit aid somewhere.

Biology is a common major, most colleges have a strong program. If you have a more specific interest in biology then you could probably look for colleges that offer courses related to that?

I would recommend getting involved with research as early as possible in your college biology experience, that is key if you are looking for a lab tech position or going to graduate school (which are the outcomes a biology major prepares you for).

So in that sense, you want to go somewhere that conducts biology research so you can get involved with lab work. But that isn’t difficult to find.
