'Ello,
I'm examining different boarding schools in the New England area. My life long passion has been fiction writing, and I plan on pursing it as a career. I was curious if there were any schools that have a specifically strong writing curriculum, or something along those lines.

Any advice?

If you’re open to a school outside of New England, you should check out Interlochen Arts Academy. They have a fantastic Creative Writing program. Here’s a link to very recent info about the program:

The Academy also offers a $30,000 scholarship for creative writing majors:

Any good boarding school will do.

If you want to be a writer, write. A good understanding of grammar and a good vocabulary help, but any good school will cover the basics you need, most likely in 9th grade.

There are also many summer camps which give students the opportunity to concentrate on a particular type of writing. A boarding school schedule will keep you too busy to concentrate on writing to that degree.

Pretty much what Periwinkle says.

If my memory serves me correctly, Middlesex School in Concord, MA, has an excellent writing program centered around a writing workshop you take your Sophomore year.

Choate has a Capstone Program your last year where you can concentrate on Creative Writing. The first two years of high school they teach writing basics and you have to pass a competency test in puctuation and grammar. When you leave that school, you really know to write like nobody’s business.
