2) St. Paul's
3) Exeter
4) Deerfield
5) Groton
6) Milton
7) Lawrenceville.

You know, that may just be the order in which I completed my applications or the rank of which tour guide / interviewer was nicest to me, but...

sspixie hotchkiss belongs somewhere on that list of yours....

Choate Choate Choate.

My personal list:
1. Choate
2. St. Paul's
3. Groton

oo olivia's a non-believer with exeter/andover ^.^

schools i felt had fit my needs the best:
1.Exeter
2. Lawrenceville
3. Andover

Andover
SPS

jonathon, you should try to visit SPS and exeter while you are in the area. Not that far away as I recall.

Yeah, I was thinking about it. I might go next Wednesday.

Haha, shut up Blee. :) I just don't know THAT much about Andover vs. Exeter, so I can't make an honest decision. Plus, I've never visited E.

I picked Deerfield over Andover, Choate, Hotchkiss, and Loomis after a talk with an andover teacher about finding the right fit. These school's aren't one size fits all.

What makes Deerfield better than the other schools, thekidhere?

Fit is everything. I have to say that I pick Deerfield too.

as i have had many friends and realitives go to pretty much all the elite 10 or so East coast prep schools this is my list from what I have hard about teachers, students, athlethics etc.

1)Andover
2)Hotchkiss
3)Choate
4)Exeter
5)Deerfield
6)Lawrenceville
7)Taft
8)St. Pauls
9)St. Georges
10)Middlesex

I almost went to Deerfield and know many who did, but personally I found it kinda strict and heard the work can be gruelling. I've also heard that athletics often take precedence over certain acedemic and social aspects of life there.

a note on St. Pauls
Where I live a lot of kids go to Deerfield, Hotchkiss and Choate as well as the PA's but there I feel like there is a stigma surronding St. Pauls. My family said there were a bunch of Scandals there not that long ago but I was wondering if anyone could clarify about this alleged bad rap.

1) Some years ago a boy claimed he was raped and that the school did nothing about it.
2) The school was paying it's Rector (head) and his right hand woman an outrageous amount, the Board seemed fiscally out of control, and the NH Atty. Gen. actually had to step in and impose some order. This was about 5 years ago.
3) There were some minor incidents a couple of years ago with some girls hazing and possibly sexually harrassing some new kids.
4) Not a scandal per se but a boy tragically drowned in the shallow end of their new pool right in front of some faculty life guards. This was a couple of years ago too.

The NY Times Magazine (?) did a piece on several of these issues a few years ago.

That said , SPS is still one of the world's great schools.

1 above was groton not SPS

SPS 2007-08: record year for applications, highest yield rate ever. Obviously others don't feel like the incidents mentioned are enough to stop them from obtaining a great education.

What is the range of ssat scores for deerfield, hotchkiss, and exeter?

Average score for those schools is high 80's/low 90's.

The range could run from 50-100. The low end will be athletes, legacies, UMs and other groups.
