best boots to buy

I live in northern Ohio and my dad and I were going to head down to Rickenbacker AF base soon to pick up my boots. Couldn't you just have stopped by the PX/BX there?

I have a friend in ROTC and he said that the PX at Rickenbacker was the size of a small living room and that they had a very limited selection of boots...and I just took his word for it. Maybe I should have checked that out first, but oh well, what's done is done...

If you do go to Rickenbacker, could you let me if they did have the right boots?

Yeah, sure. I think I'll call the base first, though. My next option is Wright-Patterson in Dayton if Rickenbacker doesn't work out.

Yea... I would definitely suggest calling ahead. And Knox RARELY has a large selection because so many basic training units come through. They pretty much buy the place out. I was actually at Knox over the weekend, but left yesterday morning.

<a href="http://www.wellco.com/html/acbttw.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.wellco.com/html/acbttw.html</a> if you know your size you could order online..

jdsmith206: We had a similar experience (4 hour round trip to Ft Bragg). Son phone ordered boots and low quarters a few weeks back. The low quarters arrived (too big), we are on our second order. They are made by Bates. Boots have not yet arrived (the vendor takes 3 weeks to process the order). From what we have been told, the issue boots are all made to the exact same specs so there is no difference between the different brands.

yomtvraps: The Wellco link you gave is to the Temperate Weather boots. Incoming Cadets must have the Hot Weather boots.

Can I buy boots at an ROTC place? I don't want to drive all the way to Knox. Can I get them on the internet? Thanks,
