Where should my D go for business - UMich Ross, WUSTL Olin, USC Marshall or SMU Cox? In at Mich but waiting for preferred Ross, already in Olin and Cox and waiting for Marshall

Ross is arguably the best, but if you aren’t preferred less than 50% of applicants are accepted to it after Freshman year (it’s no guarantee). I’d rank Marshall second, but qualify that with mentioning how important networking/internships are and USC does a great job of that. I’d say that Olin and SMU Cox are distant 3rd and 4th.

Michigan is slightly the most prestigious. USC, WashU and SMU are all really good regional targets.

Mom,

Marshall is a highly ranked undergraduate business school. It is located in a dynamic city with opportunities for internships in the entertainment, aerospace, technology, finance and phamaceutical industries. It is a Pacific Rim university with ties to the thriving economies in Asia.

The specialties within Marshall are among the tops in the nation. U.S.News ranks Marshall highly in these specialties:
Accounting #4
Entrepreneurship #3 Ranked #1 by Entrepreneur Magazine
International Business # 4 (Numerous programs for study and travel abroad)
Real Estate #5
Marketing #10

Marshall also features unique programs such as:
Business and Cinematic Arts
Business and International Relations
Business and Computer Science (Apply through the Viterbi School of Engineering)

Global business is not just a phrase at Marshall. There are numerous programs to broaden a student’s understanding of the global economy. These are:
International Exchange Program, Marshall Indonesia Summer Internship Program, Global Summer Internship Program, Intrnational Experiential Corporate Learning Program, Global Leadership Program, LINC Program for Freshmen and the Think Impact Program in Kenya and South Africa.

One of the support system’s programs to enhance career readiness is the BRIDGE Externship program. It pairs students with Marshall alumni who help students make connections and acquire vital professional experience.

I suggest you look at the Marshall website and read the long list of prominent alumni of the school.

In selecting a business school it is a good idea to visit the campus, tour the school, view the facilities, sit in on a class and learn more about the alumni and faculty.
