I will be taking PreCalculus, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB and BC in the next two years, and I need to know what would be a good calculator to use in all these classes. What are your suggestions?

I’ve heard that the best calculator for those classes that is not hard yet not easy to learn and can do what is necessary for the exam is the TI-84. I personally used a TI-89 Titanium and Iwould say it can be a little unnecessary for those math classes, but it worked for me. Hope this helps.

For PreCalc and beyond I had a really awesome Texas Instruments Ti 84 Plus Silver Edition- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073UNI86/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The included USB really came in handy.

You don’t need anything beyond the TI-83+, but you’re allowed to use the TI-89 Titanium and the TI-Nspire CAS on the AP math exams as well as the SAT and the SAT subject tests. However, you can’t use either calculator on the ACT. They have a computer based algebra system that allows them to do many things that save time in calculus.

I used the TI-83 for my AP Calc AB exam and throughout my college Calc II course. It did everything it needed to do fine. You shouldn’t need anything fancier than the TI-83, but if you plan to continue math in college, consider the TI-89 Titanium–'tis very nice.
