Best CCs in the country?

Everyone on here says DuPage and Joliet Junior College are good ones in Illinois. Is Parkland College in Illinois not that good? They have a Pathway that leads to admission to University of Illinois. I would figure that if a large state university offers such a program then the CC that is part of that program would be a good school. Any info? Also, does anyone know of some type of list that has 4-year institutions and the CCs they have agreements with?

I can’t believe nobody mentioned Mt. SAC! (Mt. San Antonio College)

Unless I’m mistaken, it’s the biggest community college in America
(definitely the biggest in California)
Academically, they have more than 200 UC/CSU transferrable classes, 82 associate’s degrees, and 141 vocational certificates
Athletically, they’re the best in California, with top-ten ranked teams in 11 different sports

Oh, and they have agreements with every UC and Cal-State university.
I think their honors program transfer success rate is 98% to get into a UC

SMC is better-known and has more advertisements, but so is Devry, so take that into consideration.

Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) is an awesome CC with guaranteed transfer to UVA.

Also Jill Biden teaches there.

I am a UVA student (finished first year there, going on to the second) who took a summer class at NOVA, and quite frankly it was horrible. I am sure I probably got one of the few bad professors, but my it has given me a really bad opinion of NOVA. One would think the institution would pick a better professor (one with at least a damned phone number to call during the work hours), considering the majority of the students in this summer course were transient students from 4 year colleges, if it wants to uphold its image among them. On top of it, I could not even let NOVA know of my feelings because (it is probably safe to say unsurprisingly by the time I had reached the end of the course), there was no course/professor evaluation form given by the professor (like NOVA representatives said he would give when I asked them multiple times for online evaluations because I had a feeling the professor would not hand out the evaluation form).

Another vote for MtSac, DeAnza and Santa Monica. I know many successful students who attended and transferred from each of them.

Rivers Cuomo of Weezer went to Santa Monica.

Does anyone actually rank CCs?

Miami-Dade College is an excellent 2-year college. I am very familiar with the higher education options in south Florida, and I can tell you that if they offered a 4-year degree in what I’m majoring in, I would definitely have stayed there.

I would say that the criteria potential CC students should consider when deciding on the “best” school would be articulation agreements/transferability of credits, faculty, and course offerings. With that being said, it would make sense to decide what school you want to transfer to and look into the CC nearest to it. That’s because the faculty will likely overlap to some degree, and chances are the schools will have agreements about requirements and transfer credits. As far as determining which CC nationally is the “best,” it’s just about impossible to do so objectively because there are too many factors involved.

Mt Sac is an excellent school and so is Santa Barbara City College!

another vote for Foothill, DeAnza and SBCC (santa barbara cc) :)

In Virginia the 4 year colleges have articulation agreements with the community colleges for guaranteed admission based on a certain gpa. University of Va and Virginia Tech you need a 3.4 for guaranteed admission and other colleges such as Radford and Old Dominion you only need a 2.5. Almost every public college and just about every private college is part of the agreement. I think any state that offers this from attending community college first ranks as being proud of the education received at the community college level and successfully prepares students for some outstanding colleges and universities.

Bellevue College (previously known as Bellevue Community College) is a fine CC in the Seattle area.

Ivy Tech community college with campuses all over indiana has over 100,000,which makes it the biggest CC in the US.

Santa Barbara CC - beautiful campus right off the beach

Uc gav tech!!!

Does Columbia U takes in students from CC?

Las Positas
Why not try Daytona? 100%acceptance rate

Formerly Bellvue Community College now named, Bellevue College In Bellevue Washington is great. They even have four year degree options. Ive attented BC for two years and am very close to graduating with my AA.

How do you think about Monroe Community college?
I will go to there from Japan in this winter.

I live almost right next to Miami Dade College - Kendall and frankly, I think it’s okay. I don’t really know because I haven’t attended any other community college (just go there for piano lessons and dual enrollment) so yeah, my scope is pretty limited.

Austin Community College in Austin, TX is awesome imo. While it doesn’t have a guaranteed transfer program more than 200 students of year go to UT Austin from there and 600 or so go to Tx State. On top of this you get all the free tutoring help you need classes no larger than 35 and instructors that care.
