I got a Samsung Rogue a month ago and it has worked well for me… It’s not an droid or blackberry though, so I don’t know if you want more of that. You should definitely look at it though.

It differs for everyone. Choose whichever one you like. Some people prefer this, some people prefer that.

I have a BB Storm 2 and I love it. It has a touchscreen (which I know some people hate), but it’s really easy to use otherwise and the battery life is solid. My bf has a Droid, but I think the BB has a much sleeker design.

uhhhmm why is the cell phone your choosing have any bearing on the fact that you ‘need it for college’. i phone is a phone. pick one with numbers on it and a power button…

Mines just a simple flippy phone. I use it to text and occasionally call people…that’s it. Oh, and for games when I get locked out of my dorm :(.

It is sort of implied by the name.

Actually, Apple would say it is more than a phone.

They’d say it cures cancer if they could.

isn’t iPhone coming to Verizon?

Son (who is a phone fanatic) had the droid and returned it for Blackberry Storm 2. The Droid was heavy and most of the stuff on it was just fluff. He likes the Blackberry better.
He used to have an iPhone but got rid of that because of the numerous dropped calls.

You really don’t need a Blackberry. You’ll be fine with any simple cell phone and the upgrade to your plan regarding “unlimited texting”.

pesky typos. the ‘i’ is suppose to be an a, which is allll the way on the other side of the keyboard. my bad.

I got it. I’m just messing around.

the iPhone is supposedly coming to Verizon. Still a rumor at this moment but the Verizon CEO said publicly that he wants the iPhone to be on Verizon’s network. So high possibility, just will come down to money. If Verizon will abide to Apple’s wants then yes it will happen but if not we will have to stick to the Droid, Blackberry, HTC, etc. If it’s coming out it will probably be coming out around October or later.

so is Blackberry Storm 2 the consensus?

The best phones are from Virgin Mobile :D

$30 a month for data is a rip offffffff. **** that.

^ It’s useful though. If you don’t plan on using the Internet much on your smartphone than don’t even get it. Personally I use it for phone numbers of businesses when I’m outside, news, and maps.

Well it’s not like there’s a “college phone.”
I mean…it’s kind of basic. Get a phone that suits your needs and you can afford…

heh well actually verizon is now forcing a $10 data plan on every phone that isn’t completely featureless and $30 on smartphones. I have a verizon samsung i760 - it came out in 07 so I don’t have to pay $30 a month but I get wifi which is enough for me…
