I currently have As in all my classes except for a 'C' in Calculus (which I'm working hard to get to a B). Even though my classes aren't designated 'Honors', they would probably be considered that at most schools

Should have good teacher recs and essays. I'm writing about my experience playing jazz guitar.

Schools:

Georgia Tech (Honors Program)
UGA (Honors Program)
Emory
Stanford
Georgetown (SFS)
University of Chicago
Northwestern
Duke

Considering this is the best chances thread ever, I sure am getting an underwhelming response.

bumperooni

If you bring up that C, Northwestern will do you right. Do you want to play jazz guitar in college or what? I don't think any of those schools have a well-known music program. Duke and Stanford are reaches.

All the schools I'm applying to have jazz ensembles, which I definetely plan on participating in, but besides Northwestern, the music programs at the schools I'm applying to aren't that great.

Any more college suggestions will help, particularly for Stanford

! b u m p !

Georgia Tech (Honors Program) Match
UGA (Honors Program) Match
Emory Match/Slight reach
Stanford Reach
Georgetown (SFS) Match/Slight Reach
University of Chicago Match/Slight Reach
Northwestern Match/Slight Reach
Duke Match/Slight Reach

You're on the borderline because I haven't read your essays or don't know completely all your statistics, but right good essays and those slight reaches will become matches.

NO! Emory is a slight reach? O well.
Also, I don't think this wil change my chances significantly but I read Northwestern only takes your best score from one sitting. Thus, my SAT score for Northwestern is 760 CR, 720 Math, 780 WR (2260). I've taken the SAT three times in all.

bump (1o ChAr)

I'm not sure that Stanford will work out for you.

why not? You have to give me a reason.

SOMEONE!! Why not Stanford?

I think that Stanford looks for someone who has good academics and scores (which you do!) AND someone who has a lots of extracurriculars which show dedication and passion (meaning lots of offices and awards in a couple stand-out ECs).

Perfect Attendance is a very prestigious award.

Gender and ethnicity?

Does it matter? If it does, I'm a black male
Edit: Yea, and I realize the Perfect Attendance award is a joke to colleges

Being a black male matters a lot.

I would say...

Georgia Tech (Honors Program) Match/Safety
UGA (Honors Program) Match/Safety
Emory Match
Stanford Slight Reach/Reach
Georgetown (SFS) Match
University of Chicago Match/Slight Reach
Northwestern Match
Duke Match

I would say that being a black male with your great test scores, you stand a chance at Stanford.

I'm not racist or anything, that's just the way it is.

OMG! So racist!...
Seriously, thanks for the input. Anyone else have any thoughts?

either you just lied about your race or youre going to get a bunch of acceptances and scholarships this year

Well, I hope your right about the acceptances and scholarship part.

B U M P!!!!
