No idea what your chances are but props on the title, totally got my attention.

Im not a pro at chancing but...applying to MIT with a C in calc? i dont think thats good at all. Usually people i see who are applying to MIT, have high math and physics grades. in addition to having taken tests like the AMC, AIME etc..but on the other hand ur SAT scores are excellent.

I'm not applying to MIT! Nonetheless, my low math grade is a huge negative for the colleges I'm applying to. I hope to get it up by the end of the semester to at least a 'B'.

yes but he is a senior now....unless they ask for a midterm grade report..which im not sure if they do...they wont know till after they accept/reject him and if he were accepted he wouldn't get rescinded for a C.

Up the ante my friend ...add some more ivys

your gonna get in at all of those schools

The common application schools do require a mid-year report, so if I don't get my 'C' up by then, I'm sure they'll know. And as far as more Ivy's... I think I have enough Ivy-type schools as it is.

but there always is a slight chance you dont get into one or two

great chance at MIT!...

black male + high SAT scores = basically in

just curious, what were your SAT scores for all three times you took it?

He said he's not applying to MIT...

OMG u got a 2300....and ur BLACK???!?!?!!

yoo, u gotta help a brother out man, you are making my 1950 look bad and I'm applying to ivies!

1st time (Nov Junior year): 710 CR 640 Math 720 WR (2070)
2nd time (may Junior year):760 CR 720 Math 780 WR (2260)
3rd time (Oct senior year): 800 CR 680 Math 710 WR (2190)
Hopefully I can destroy the Math IIc this coming Saturday and show that I'm pretty good at math. and btw... I'm not applying to MIT!!!

"OMG u got a 2300....and ur BLACK???!?!?!!"

its so sad to see young ignorant black students ...ahmmm

Stanford: Slight reach/High Match. Your GPA is..eh :P But, your black...so that helps XD

OMG, at first i was like, "wait, why would he be getting in everywhere...he's asian. thats a huge disadvantage..."
But then i realized that was just the title and that u are really URM.
so in at all ide say.

any more thoughts?

I think I destroyed the Math IIC today (that's a good thing). Will this make me more solid for the schools I'm applying to? And will my URM status help that much for upper-tier colleges, or are my grades and ECS still too crappy?

well your stats alone are not good enough to get into schools like stanford, duke and northwestern. but you do have that hook of being a minority
