I have applied for the NROTC application, of course, if I don't get it, I still plan on joining the program.

I have narrowed my list down to two choices: Norwich University, and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

I would like to fly for the Navy

Which is my best choice? It is hard for me to make a clear-cut decision because I know that Embry Riddle is one of the countries leading aviation universities, but Norwich is a well known university for its militaristic involvement. My major that I have applied for (and been accepted) is Aeronautical Engineering for Embry Riddle, and Electrical and Computer Engineering for Norwich University.

In the responses, please ignore finances, I am simply wondering which is the better choice for me to be most prepared to fly for the Navy: leadership, knowledge, and which university has a higher chance of getting me there.

puremojo, You should post your question on the U.S. Naval Academy forum…click on “colleges” on the left side of this page and then look for Service Academies on the college page. I understand you are not interested in USNA but many on that forum are also applying for NROTC and have good info.

My S recently commissioned through NROTC at a big state university. His service selection choice was a very tough one to get into (as hard as aviation).
Whether you’re chosen for a particular community within the Navy does not have that much to do with where you went to college. It’s based on a point system including gpa, PT scores, PMF recommendations, etc.
In short, you should choose the college that you like most and feel you will enjoy attending. What other colleges did you list on your NROTC application?
What did you list as your first choice?

Great info there! And thanks for the heads up on the scoring, however, I meant to say that in a situation where lets say the scores were identical, but only one could be chosen for a Naval Aviator - who do you think they’d pick?

My first choice was Embry Riddle, that one is harder to get into than Norwich - it’s the most requested school for aviators in the Navy next to the academy from what my interviewer told me (at least thats what I remember).
