Did you know September 30th is International Podcast Day? Yeah, me neither until I saw it on Twitter a few minutes ago
But I do love podcasts and it got me thinking…what are the best College Admissions Podcasts for the 2021/22 admissions year?
Two of my current favorites are:
College Admissions Brief featuring Rick Clark, Dean of Undergrad Admissions at Georgia Tech, which is really informative for families navigating admissions, and short enough to finish in a 20 minute drive or walk.
The Key by Inside Higher Ed which is not solely about admissions, but is a great way to stay up on the latest news and trends in higher ed overall.
What college-related podcasts do you all find most entertaining, informative, or helpful? Would love to hear your recs.
The Yale one seems very genuine in the “there are no secrets” way - also between the lines shows the whimsicality of it all. Goes in detail about review process which is helpful.
Re Your College-Bound Kid, the main host Mark Stucker has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things college-admissions related, and has a great podcast ‘personality’. Each episode is quite long and follows a structured formula - the hosts start off discussing a timely topic in the news that is admissions-related, then Mark gives a weekly tip/recommendation of a resource for college admissions (blogs, websites, books), then there is a listener Q&A, and finally an extremely detailed deep dive into a specific college/university that offers an amazing overview from many angles. I’ve learned so much from this podcast. They also have a podcast website where you can check if the show has covered a particular college/university.
