<p>which college has the best motto?</p>

<p>i like the UCs' 'fiat lux'</p>

<p>I like Stanford's "Die Luft der Freiheit weht" which is German for "The wind of freedom blows." </p>

<p>Now, I don't just like it because I got into Stanford but because it's also unique due to the fact that it's the only motto in German I know of. Most are in Latin with a few in Greek or English. I take German in school too, so that made it extra special for me :D</p>

<p>The motto of the Vrije Universiteit in Holland is straightforward enough - "plain special". That probably ranks as least pretentious of them all. Sounds more the the motto for a special ed school though...</p>
