Best colleges for VETERINARY/ZOOLOGY?

What are the schools with the preveterinary/vet/zoology programs? Which have the best reputations and which are the most competetive? Any information is appreciated

or if anyone here has gone to vet school, what’s some good prep advice?

Try looking into universities that have vet schools of their own. They’re bound to have good advising on how to get into vet school (it is extremely competitive). Some Unis off the top of my head: Cornell University, UPenn, UC Davis, Colorado State University, Michigan State. I think i’ve heard that Michigan State in particular has a great zoology program.

I know in Texas, Texas A&M is about the only show. Very good school.

Wisconsin-Madison

Kansas State University in Manhattan has an excellent program. Great campus, great experience.

xAAAx – What state do you live in? Your chances of admission to a vet school are greatly enhanced if you apply to the vet school in your state of residence. Or, for example in the case of Virginia Tech, one of the state’s that supports the vet program – in this case Virginia and Maryland. Going to the university that houses the vet school for undergraduate study increases your chances for admission microscopically. If you plan to apply to Conell for vet school it is better to have a 3.8 GPA from Columbia than a 3.5 GPA from Cornell.

^^^ i live in massachusetts, but i dont want to go to school in my state if i can help it

Small versus large animal makes a difference in schools as well. The ranking in post #7 is a bit funny because I am not sure all of those schools have vet schools (U. Penn?, Penn State, I think). Iowa State was the first vet school in country and it isn’t even on the list.

Hudson Valley is correct about where you live. You will have priority at your in-state school, if there is one in Massachussetts. Do some research on admissions requirements through the vet schools’ Web sites.

Just fyi, the vet school is at UPenn, not penn state.

Honestly though, the rankings of the vet schools don’t really matter at all. If you get into an accredited school, you’re good to go (similar to med school).

Thanks CaseSpartan–I should have looked it up!

This link has vet schools and links to requirements.

^^^ thanks! ill take a look at it

Your vet school is Tufts, which is a darned good school in a great location. You’d be extremely foolish not to at least consider it.
