Assuming that someone would be good enough to get into an ivy league or similar school, what schools are nearly just as good, but would be likely to offer a lot of financial aid? Basically what are the best schools that give the most money to good students?

University of Alabama
University of Pittsburgh
Michigan State University

They give out money a lot. Full tuition and Full rides.

For safeties, take your pick:

For National Merit Finalists, there are automatic and competitive scholarships:

For non-safeties, there are many others with competitive large merit scholarships, such as Georgia Tech, UNC-CH, Duke, NCSU, etc…

Depending on your major, your own home-state public Us might be just as good as (or better than) the Ivy/Ivy-peer institutions, and more willing to throw big money at you. Check those out as well.
