<p>Bloomington, Ann Arbor, Charlottesville, Williamsburg (although it is a little quieter, it has a great town culture), Princeton (I'm biased), Hanover, Santa Cruz, Burlington, Evanston, Athens (GA), Charleston (SC), and almost Providence. I'll take UCBChemGrad's word about Berkeley, because I'm visiting there soon.</p>

<p>Well, that depends on what you call a college town - and to that, I would say that NYC probably doesn't qualify. To be a "college town" means to have a significant percentage of college students within the population, and while I can't give you an exact cutoff, NYC probably does not qualify by any reasonable metric. </p>
<p>Now if we were just talking about what are the best cities, then that would be a different story entirely. Sure, I agree, NYC is arguably the most interesting city in the world. But we're not talking about that. We're talking about what is the best college town.</p>

<p>there are more college students in NYC (about 600,000) than any other city in the nation, how is it not a college town? maybe it's not your idea of a college town, but it definitely is a great college town for some.</p>
