Best Courier for Stanford!

People who have applied to stanford , I want to know which courier should be preferred?

also please tell the approx days it take to reach for the cheapest like DHL, FedEx etc

its better to fax…Stanford does not like couriers…I mean it:/
Else prefer DHL:)

Okay but what about the certificates and proofs of extra curricular? All by fax?

Also any disadvantage in sending by courier? I can send the documents more organised in that way

Your choice actually…but they keep saying FAX…

@jmlover - I don’t understand why you want to send Stanford a courier??

Did they ask you specifically for any documents??

@rishav-he wants to send his certificates. You don’t have to send them but it doesn’t hurt. Also, additional letters of rec can only be sent through couriers to most universities.

@happyasever - He hasn’t applied yet I think!! :p

And sending certificates of what you’ve already mentioned on the commonapp is a bad idea - it’ll just p**s the adcoms!!

Yes i havent yet applied.

But I want to know if we dont attach proof to EC then will they think that they are fake?

I thought of attaching all the certificates of interschool Quizzes in last two years but after rishav17 last comment i am confused. Its good to attach or not?

No…don’t attach any EC’s…do you want to tell them that they shouldn’t trust you??? Just send ny extra stuff if they ask…

@Jmlover - you need to know A LOT on the college application process!! You need to research.

Basically most schools use a common application called the CommonApp. Others have alternative options or the school’s own application but in essence they require the same details.

You need to list your ECs on the commonapp. Misrepresenting information will result in you being rescinded(if admitted) and that is a risk you shouldn’t take. Colleges trust that an applicant is honest and if he/she is not - I believe that person is not fit to attend college.

Commonapp has other sections on essays, school info/personal info and also the counselor report which includes your high school transcripts. You DO NOT need to submit addl materials to universities unless they SPECIFICALLY ASK for it or if you have FORGOTTEN to mention something IMPORTANT.

Again, you need to RESEARCH a LOT!!

Yes i know I need to learn a lot on this admission process , I am new and just understanding the process reading threads.

So finally i should not attach certificates of winning quizzes …ummm okay thanks! :)

Oh and just saying…go beyond interschool…you’ll need a bit more for Stanford…catch my drift;)(I am going through the same problem myself now:()

@ quiver -

Really? You going through the same problem?? :p

@Jmlover - As quiver said - local/school achievements are not exactly what they want. But inter-school national/state awards are fine!! :)

@Quiver
can you please elaborate on “Catch my drift”?

and by ""you need a bit more " do you mean national olympiads etc?

Also yes i know that my ECs are not good .but sadly these are the ones i got along with some more like NTSE , KVPY(Round 1) …will try to work harder now! Thanks for the advice! :)

@Rishav17

yes not attaching any event happened just only in my school …inter school quizzes and some olympiads!

@rishav…Oh pls…can’t a guy ever be true to himself!!!:)

@Jm…you need to show them some serious talent for them to be interested in you…Essays,Stats don’t really matter if you have made a mark in your passion on a “large” scale…national/international level stuff as rishav mentioned…catch my drift now:)
And its never the question of ‘good’ its the question of ‘how much better can I do!’:D…

@quiver - You have GREAT ECs which show LOT of passion!! :D

@jmlover - What are your strengths??
Is it orating? - Take part in debates, talk about it in essays.
Is it playing cricket?? or are you brilliant in a particular subject??

Having a boatload of ECs doesn’t matter!! What matters is dedication towards your EC(s).

Honestly, if you are in 11th & don’t have any? ECs till now - you’d be better off applying to colleges which focus more on grades/test scores than the Ivy/top univs who have a MORE holistic admissions process!!
