Best CSUs for microbiology, or STEM in general.

Could you please just only rank the strongest STEM CSUs, and tell their strengths in the majors and if they’re impacted or not. Thanks! I’ll put the list of CSUs here:

Here is the CSU impacted matrix which lists impacted majors and campuses:

http://www.calstate.edu/SAS/documents/impactedprogramsmatrix.pdf

Top CSU’s would be Cal Poly SLO, Cal State Long Beach, San Diego State, Fullerton and Cal Poly Pomona.

For CS, add San Jose State and East Bay.

Top Engineering would be the Cal Poly’s.

Maritime is very specialized and only a few majors but their programs are excellent.

Microbiology is not listed separately but under Biological Sciences. It is pretty much a staple major and found at the majority of campuses. All Cal states will give a good education so it will depend upon your stats and what you consider the best fit academically, socially and financially.

This is a silly exercise without your stats and budget. Why constrain to CSUs when CA is home to UCs and some of the world’s premier privates?

@NCalRent I’m part of the Upward Bound Program, so I am required to apply to 4 CSU schools. I do not plan to go to a CSU, but rather a UC. Nonetheless, a CSU would be my backup if I am not happy with my results with the UC results.

STEM is pretty broad but, both Cal Ploy campuses as well as SDSU and CSULB - but, they are all pretty selective.
Without your stats, I don’t know if you can get in.

Good luck.
