Any opinions on which of the Cal States are the best college experience with not too much partying? Prospective business major who probably can't get into Cal Poly or SDSU needs ideas.

Not much partying at San Francisco State. Big business program. 2:3 male-female ratio.

Sort of a commuter school though. If you don't want that then check out all the CSUs in the middle of nowhere.

The CSUs that seem to have the best college experience are SDSU, Chico, and the CalPoly schools but they don't fit what you're saying.

****, i'd go just for the ratio. I wish some of the UCs were like that.

look into sfsu, sjsu, dominguez, and la.
i would add csu lb, but that might be a reach*.
*if sdsu is a reach.

well csulb is definately alot easier to get into than cal poly slo and sdsu so it just depends on what your grades are, but i believe it is the 3rd hardest csu to get into.

i think average freshman stats there are 3.4 gpa and 900-1000 sat

i hear CSUN has a nice business program, but it's in the valley where it's frickin hot.

CSUN has an awesome business program and the atmosphere is party but also serious academics depends on if you look to party... yes northridge is pretty hot but if you get on the waiting list for the dorms then youd have it made because theyre huge and have good air conditioning plus they have themed housing for example smoking non smoking by major and age groups freshman/sophmores and seniors/grad students... visit the campus it is growing and it is a beautiful place to spend three-four years

I would say the best CSU is san francisco state, its the most popular and is known for really good teachers but its also huge and crowded so consider that...

ok...sfsu is ur next best bet for buzinaazzzz

according to us news

best csus:

1)cal poly slo
2)long beach
3)cal poly pomona
4)chico
5)fullerton
6)humboldt
7)sacramento
8)stainslus
9)san jose
10)fresno
11)bakersfield
12)san bernardino
13)sfsu
14)los angeles

gabe, CSULA is NOT better than CSUN.

Wait, they place Chico within the top five CSU schools? I've read my fair share of complaints about the practice of ranking colleges in general and this magazine's rankings in particular but ... damn. If Chico compares that favorably with the entire CSU system, which I really doubt it does in reality, then something is seriously wrong with the direction that system is taking. That campus doesn't exactly have an awesome academic reputation and--in recent years--the community been forced to crack down on large public events due to high rates of violent crime (most notably Halloween). I just can't imagine how that campus could compare so favorably to the other schools on that list.

highscoolda,

that's why he's stating "according to US News", read it. What is it with all these idiotic posts on the CSU boards? Not to knock CSU's, I know plenty of bright students that go to CSU's.

oh ok. nm then.

Eschatos- UCSB also has some pretty hardcore partying, but is thought as a very good school.
