which date is better to take the ACT? In Septemeber or October? Which date has the easier test?

You can't really say when or which test date will be easier. The level of difficulty will vary among each test taker. Plus, no one knows what the test questions are until after they finish taking it.

If you want to apply for Early Action to colleges, then take it on September.

If you want to apply for Regular Action to colleges, then take it on September or October. It's your choice.

October has the easier test because you get an extra month to study.

Mrs. Ferguson: I'm confused. Don't you get to study for the September test during the summer? I'm not trying to argue or anything. I'm going to take the September test for EA, and I want to make sure I can get the highest grade I can. I don't want to take a really hard test. The june test was easy, but still, I'm confused. Could you explain what you stated in your post?

It's impossible to anticipate which date (or any other date) is going to be easier. I think it's a horse apiece - September testing means you have the entire summer to prepare and it's still fresh in your mind when you test and then your test is out of the way. October gives you the extra time and if you live in a state that doesn't do September dates, it makes life a little easier for you.

The tests are all equivalent. Some may be slightly harder than others, but those will have a slightly easier score conversion ("curve") to make up for it, so it won't hurt you to take a harder test. And there's no relationship between the test date and the difficulty of the test. So take it whenever it's easiest for you.

could you take the act in oct. and still apply early if you sent in your test scores automatically to the college?

no, it will be too late. However, you can put the list of colleges you want to send the score to on the ACT thing.

It doesn't really make a difference. Whatever date you feel more comfortable with and familiar with the material is when you should take it.

there is no such thing as an easier test... duh or else everyone would take the test the same day.
if it's a harder test, there's a more generous curve and vice versa. ie i did worse on the june test even though it was easier just b/c of the harsh curve than i did on the april test

can you really not take the october test date and not report scores in time for EA/ED? I know that at least one school with a Nov 1 ED deadline accepts the Nov 4 SAT

You can't get October scores to colleges by Nov. 1, whether you put the schools down when you register or send reports after the scores come out. If you want to know whether colleges will accept scores AFTER the deadline, you need to check with each college. I would guess that many of them do.
