Best dorm options

Can anyone suggest the best dorms for a girl who is going through rush? Would prefer a co-ed, traditional dorm rather than suite style, but open to all options. OOS so want a location that is social to make friends, but also offers enough quiet to study.

We’re still waiting on decisions from a couple schools, but USC is a strong possibility. Thanks for any input.

There’s only two dorms that fit that bill: South Tower and Bates.

I wouldn’t recommend either. Just out of curiosity, why traditional style? It is slightly cheaper, but those dorms are older/dingier and in the case of Bates, really far out.

There are a lot of great suite-style co-ed options, as well as all-girls options. Patterson (all girls) opened up my freshman year (2011) and is very, very nice on the inside. A lot of girls who rush live there. The Woman’s Quad just went through a renovation and is also a nice option. Both are in the middle of campus.

Otherwise, I think Maxcy and Preston are great co-ed options because they have a good location.

I just wouldn’t recommend a freshman to live in on-campus apartments. It’s really hard to meet friends that way.

Thank you for the info. My daughter wanted a traditional dorm to avoid bathroom cleaning, but it looks like that is provided in some of the suite style dorms. We’ll look further at these dorms you suggested. Thanks again!

Out of the two AUgirl listed South Tower is the best located and use to be all female but is now, I think, co-ed by floor. Women’s Quad and Patterson were traditional halls until redone within last couple of years. I think most new students want at least suites if not apartments. Some cleaning is done for them - university found that they stay in better shape that way, but she and suitemates will need to keep up with it and be aware of cleaning times. Students have to remove all personal items from around sink and shower or they won’t clean it. Overall the benefits of newer dorms or the dorms with your preferred community outweigh bathroom cleaning issues, IMO.
