Best double-major with International Relations?

I’ve pretty much decided I want to major in International Relations. As a recruited athlete I have the opportunity to attend some top schools such as Johns Hopkins, Tufts, and Georgetown. Would my best bet be to major in Political Science along with IR or would it be better to major in something like Middle Eastern or Asian Studies? What about Sociology? I plan on doing Army ROTC and would like to become a civil affairs officer. In the long run I would love to work for a organization such as the UN, State Department, or CIA. Which major would be best for my desired career path?

An in-demand foreign language. Guaranteed jobs.

What would you suggest? I’ve contemplated Arabic, Russian, and Mandarin but I’m not sure which would be the best.

Where would you rather be posted?

Pick one that u are reasonably assured of attaining fluency. Ersatz proficiency level is useless.

Junior level foreign service staff do not get postings in geopolitically important locations.

Note that at Georgetown if you major in a subject at their school of Foreign Service (such as International Relations) you can neither double major nor minor.

I’m not at all sure what the purpose of that comment is. The OP talked about a wide range of organizations that work in all corners of the world. Not only that, but junior staff become senior staff and can bid on a variety of postings.
