Best engineering for me

Hello all. I hope you are all having an excellent day. Me, like many others, are interested in making a difference through inventing. Which is why I aspire to become an engineer. However I have come to that point where I don’t know which major to choose. Part of me tells me to do biomedical engineering as it allows me to use engineering skills to help others in the medical field. I’m more into working with medical devices and developing prostheses, but making these prostheses more advanced, or making exoskeletons that help the paralyzed walk. But another part of me tells me to go for computer science or computer engineering to become the next “Bill Gates” or “Steve Jobs”. I can see the future of computers already and know that they are only going to get more advanced and I want to be part of that action. At first I was considering to double major in these fields but I already know that it’s too much work. Would it be ideal to major in one and minor in the other?

You should know that there are not that many jobs for graduates of BME with only a Bachelor’s degree. A graduate degree is necessary to really get into the field. The CS degree would likely give you better employability right after college, but it would be hard to move into the areas you cite in your post. It is possible to go from a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical of Mechanical engineering into the fields that you identified and those degrees will give you mbetter chance at getting a job right after college.
