I been doing a search and I am trying to find a ranking of top Euro universities based on country. We all know Oxbridge is tops in England...but what about the top schools in Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, etc? Hey, I'll even go further east! Whats considered tops in AUstria, Hungary, Russia? Anyone have any info or opinions? I am just curious...that's all!

I hear the International University of Bremen is a nice place

The best Russian university is Moscow State University.

How do you think about Imperial College - University of London. This is the best school for science and technology in ENgland. I got acceptence here last year, but the tuition fee of this college screwed me up. Poor kid cant afford 14000 pounds per year, and school didn't provide any single quid for international students

yep, the International University Bremen (in Germany) is a nice place. It was founded 6 years ago, I think, but its growing to be such a dynamic university. Im applying there.

The best University in Slovenia (a neighbour of Italia and Austria) is University of Ljubljana (www.uni-lj.si)

The International University Bremen indeed is very nice. I actually took my SAT I there. The campus is beautiful and it is a very new school, so everything is modern and nice. It does not have the international reputation such as other colleges might have but its development and recognition are on a rise.

Although IU Bremen is a university in course of deveplomant with lots of internationals, friends of mine studying there said that every year the financial aid offered is lower. This year i guess the maximum will be 10 000 out of 19 000. Anyway i'm also applying there, since you can take loans.

cool beans!

Croatia - University of Zagreb
Switzerland - ETH Zurich
Austria - Vienna University and Vienna Technical (for engineering)

The best in France (for science/engineering) is Polytechnic, Paris

Nobody mentioned Oxford in England or La Sorbonne in Paris yet. Very good schools as well...

Some very good and top universities are:

Italy: La Sapienza-in Rome
France: L'ecole Normael du Paris(Science) & Sorbonne; L'Universitee Paris IX: Dauphine.(Humanities)
England: Oxford and Cambridge.
Scotland: Edinburgh University and St. Andrews.
Spain: Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad de Salamanca, Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona.
Germany: Universitat Liepzig
Austria: Universitat Wien.(Vienna University)
Switzerland: University of Zurich; Les Roches(Hotel Management).
Russia: MGU(Moscow State Univeristy).
Sweden: Stockholm University.
Greece: University of Tessaloniki(sp?).

in europe, but especially france i think.. it depends on what you want to do. it's not like in the states where u can basically study what u want.. if you want to go into politics, the best place to get into is Sciences Po Paris.. if you want to go into engineering, theres a great school in lyon.. it really all depends.

Ireland: Trinity

Sweden - Karolinska (medecine) and Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH) for sci/eng

You guys forgot about Heidelberg in Germany..
it competes with the very best in Medicine and Biotechnology.

IMHO:

Top Universities in England for Science and Engineering: Cambridge and Manchester (IST) and Oxford
