hey guys. just wondering what ECs would be best to take. these are mine (current and soon to come)

1)flying lessons
2)guitar lessons (7 years)
3)fencing lessons
4)founder/captain of debate team (a league for homeschoolers)
5)founder/editor of homeschooler newspaper
6)mailroom manager for Glitter Creek Inc. (local book company)
7)author of quantum physics book (garanteed publication)
8)rocket team head at Gifted Science Program (IQ test/SAT scores/high class rank required for acceptance)

and probably something i forgot to mention.
let me know if that's enough or if i should do more.
thanks

Yeah, I find that rather hard to believe as well heh. Who knows, there are some pretty genius kids on this board. I recall there was someone who did this awhile ago.

If being a certain sided brain actually effects your spelling, you must be extremely left-brained. With that kind of brain, are you sure you'll finish that book?

positive. i will! i just need to know if that's good enough (other than the SATs which i still have to take) ECs for a homeschooler to get into a top college.

einsteingermany, how did u get to head the rocket team when you havent still appeared for your SATs? You yourself said that its a requirement.
Smells fishy, doesnt it?

not at all. sat tests are given to homeschoolers and i have taken them. but they aren't for college they are just for passing one grade to the next. plus you dont HAVE to have them. i meant you need either those or one of those other things. not all. i promise those are honest i just want some advice i honestly dont have time to lie about myself and dont see the point in doing so.

frankly i feel that if you were to send those in on a college app they would be like..haha this kid is lying..ecs are like big words, if you use them too much at the wrong time, then you look phony...

i suggest you do something somewhat "normal" and get involved with some sort of community service/volunteer program..

but honestly, i feel a college would look at that and think your cocky, sorry but most kids who right books on physics are not very well rounded. unless you are applying to the cal institute of tech, then they probably wouldnt care

dude well done on that book. i find it amazing how people like ensteingermany have time to do all of this, i can barely keep up with my homework.

looks like youre probably headed for a scientific career. if thats the case, a maths- science type school will surely accept you. if you are good in class, that is. which i assume you are.

its funny how many people in this world seem to be scientific-minded. i can barely simplify fractions. i feel like im the only "right brained" person on these forums lol. (and by right brained i mean extremely right brained. actually im pretty good in sciences when i put my mind to it but my inherent laziness usually takes over before working becomes a habit.)

if you did speech and debate and you were the capitan, then, suprisingly, you have a 60% better chance of getting into college, and if you just on the team, you have a 23% chance.

Please don't even dignify this topic with responses. It's so obvious that this kid is lying. Maybe he is on the debate team, but it's clear that he didn't write the physics book. He sounds like he's pleading with us to believe him.

EX:
"-are you sure you'll finish that book?
-positive. I will! ...i promise those [EC's] are honest i just want some advice i honestly dont have time to lie about myself and dont see the point in doing so."

Plus:
"1)flying lessons
2)guitar lessons (7 years)
3)fencing lessons
4)founder/captain of debate team (a league for homeschoolers)
5)founder/editor of homeschooler newspaper
6)mailroom manager for Glitter Creek Inc. (local book company)
7)author of quantum physics book (garanteed publication)
8)rocket team head at Gifted Science Program (IQ test/SAT scores/high class rank required for acceptance)"

There's NO way he could do ALL of those and put any time into any one of them. Pffft! He's lying. Honestly, Nikki422 and nd32k3 hit the nail right on the head in their respective posts. This kid sounds cocky: "lol thank you but sadly i do to get a job. i teach myself undergrad and graduate level physics." I didn't even understand the first sentence, and PLEASE! Is that what youdo in your spare time?
