I am a sophmore at a community college majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems. I plan on transferring by next Spring. I have absolutely no valuable ECS, besides being part of a book club, I work as a manager at a car wash.

What are some good ECS that I should pursue? Would working as a bank-teller or another job related to my major make up for the ECS?

I produce music, I'm also a photographer/run a blog, along with visual editing, and graphic designing/art illustrations. I am also became a public figure on a social networking site gaining over 100k followers in 6 months, and I have been able to generate income through this popularity along with having a consistent and lively community.

Do any of these count as ECS? Please enlighten me.

Firstly, you should determine if your target schools even care one iota about ECs from its transfer candidates. the vast vast majority of colleges only care about your transcript. Please make an appt w/your comm college’s transfer advisor to go over this vital detail. You don’t want to be going down the wrong road (chasing EC resume padders) when you should be focused on your GPA

My D did not have any EC or any sports on her transcript. She did not get involved with schools activities or do much after school or do anything to support his community.

I was nervous this would hinder her acceptances to colleges…especially having come to CC and reading about EC. This place can make one crazy.

Well, it didn’t hinder her acceptance at all so far. 3 out 5 colleges excepted. Thank goodness for GPA and Sat/ACT. Nothing outstanding but a good student.

I really do not believe that it is as important as some make it.

Perplexed: the OP is currently a community college student looking to transfer into a 4yr college. The odds that ECs are needed are even LESS than for your son.

sounds like a lot of ecs “I produce music, I’m also a photographer/run a blog, along with visual editing, and graphic designing/art illustrations.
Thank you for your reply on my thread! So these EC’s will look good when applying as a transfer student to Universities such as Cal Berkley? Should I be focusing on internships or Ec’s offered by the school?
