What are some great festivals for piano? Ranging from nearly impossible to get into to mildly competitive. Thanks!

DS said the piano students at Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro were awesome.

Bowdoin and Aspen leap to mind as programs with particularly strong piano faculty and students. The time I spent at Bowdoin last summer was incredibly valuable - my teacher there was amazing, the piano trio I was in was dedicated and worked well together, and the practice environment was very conducive to getting good work done. I've also heard very good things about Music Academy of the West, Ravinia, and PianoFest in the Hamptons, though they are all very competitive. There are also chamber-focused programs such as Yellow Barn, Taos, and the Heifetz Institute.

For slightly less selective festivals, Brevard has some very good teachers, though I've been wary of the place since Keith Lockhart took over. And for pre-college pianists, there's always Interlochen.
