Hi. I have 2 questions.
Firstly, I’m an international student considering applying at the top schools in US; however, I’m not that, you know, Yale or Harvard guy. I am not that research guy who eats the books and sleep over them, even if I have the ability to; I just don’t find myself in that atmosphere. So I feel that Dartmouth is the best fit, since it offers tough courses, but at the same time it have the atmosphere of a liberal arts college. Am I right ?
Second question, I’m considering applying at Dartmouth in ED, but I’m also applying for financial aid. If I got accepted, does that means that I’m getting the financial aid I need ? I mean I’m afraid of getting accepted, which is binding, but without getting the financial aid I need, so I wouldn’t be able to attend which would get me into trouble.
Dartmouth is no longer need blind for international students. This mean that your ability to pay will be a factor in admissions.
However, if accepted Dartmouth will meet 100% of your demonstrated need as they define your need.
One of the challenges with ED especially as an international student is that you don’t get to compare packages; you may turn down Dartmouth and their package because it is unaffordable only to find out later that it is your only offer or the best package. In addition, if you cannot demonstrate that you have the funds to attend school (whether it is a combination of financial aid, your parents money, loans from your country, etc), you will not get your visa to come to the U.S.
