To anyone who knows about UD, I am an incoming freshman and I really don't know much about the dorm options at UD. What are the best dorms??

I am sure the UD students have their own perspective but I will tell you my D’s experience from what she has told me. As a freshman she really wanted to be in Laird campus. Dorms are really nice and new which was probably her reasons for choosing them. Well, she didn’t get her first choice. They put her in what was her last choice and probably the worst dorms, aesthetically and age, on campus. In fact they are about to tear the dorms down they are so bad. With all that I have to say it didn’t matter. She loved it. She made great friends and we spent the first few days decorating her single (yes single as all the rooms in this dorms are singles) which made it hers. Her experience was great and she realized in the end it didn’t matter what dorm she was in. Second year she moved to Laird with a roommate and loved that too. Dorms were nice and new, but she did feel it was a bit far for her since her classes were all on the other side of campus. She spends a lot of time in the studio for her major so coming back late at night was a bit of a pain. While I am sure not everyone will agree with me, I think in the end it is up to your kid to make the best of it no matter where they live. What is important is getting involved in activities as that is where they will meet people and make additional friends. She is out of the dorms now living in off campus housing but her experience in the dorms was an excellent one.
