arent political science, politics, and government all the same major? just different colleges call them something different...

my favorites as far as concentrations within political science:
1. international relations
2. comparative politics
3. american government
4. statistical methods
5. political theory

Different schools call their majors different things. Of course the typical is Political Science. But the school I'm looking to attend has Government and Political Affairs instead. There's also International Relations and International Studies. Some school have IS as a more politically oriented major (meaning it's just a different name for IR), whereas in some cases it's more based on cultural studies. Also, I know that Penn State has International Politics as it's own major, and not just a concentration in Poli Sci or IR. Like somebody said before, many Political Science programs make you choose a concentration (Law, Journalism, Comparitive, etc.)

Personally, If you want to be a poli sci major, I recommend attending a liberal arts college where you can explore all facets of the major, and are not forced to choose one area over another.
