Hey guys,

I'd like to go to work in Government and the IR Field. However, the school i'll be attending in the fall (George Mason) offers both Government and International Politics or Global Affairs.

If I'd eventually like to work for the CIA, NSA, DIA, State Dept, NGO's, or the other "cool agencies", which would be more useful?

I've always enjoyed politics, and AP Govt and International Relations are my two favorite classes...

Thanks for your time.

Govt & International Relations is a departmental major in political science. It has 2 tracks: political science or public administration. Within the political science track, you can choose a subsconcentation in one of the subfields of the discipline: Political Theory & Law; Comparative Politics; International Relations; or, American Politics. You would still have to do some coursework in each of the subfields, however.

Global Affairs is an interdisciplinary major. After a core set of courses, you choose a thematic option, either a world region or a functional area. The major also has specific requirements and/or recommendations for languages, study abroad, and internships.

The Global Affairs major is probably what coincides most with your interests.
