Best Job Security in Fields of Biz?

Which jobs have the most job security? I'm the type of student who can get into schools like USC, not the ultra-top schools, but among the best, so I'm worried that I might get weeded out if I enter a fickle market where I'll be competing against people that are naturally smarter (don't get me wrong, its not that I won't work hard to not get weeded out, but its just that there IS a high chance then of me getting laid off).

I don't think being afraid is the right mindset to have. You should go into a field that interests you. It may take some lower level business courses before you really know what you want to major in. However, you will find the most success by doing what you enjoy, regardless of whether the job market is good or bad.

I'd say accounting is probably the "safest" major but that should be a very low ranking criterion.

Like Vector said, if you hope to be a business star don't be afraid. Work harder. Work longer. Work smarter. Dominate at all costs !!!

USC is a great school. Have more confidence!! In the real world it's not always those with the highest GPAs who are the most successful,

if i can modify the OP's question, which business jobs (and also industries) are least vulnerable to a downturn in the market?

this is a little to far into your future to worry about
