best laptop for college?

Well what the best laptop that you guys can recommend?
All I can say is that I take lots of pictures, so memory might be an issue, but I can always buy and extranal for that.
I'll be a freshman in college in a year, so I still have some time.

What do you want to do with it? Are you into gaming? Do you want a large screen? Or do you prefer something that's very light? Does it need to be able to run for a long time on battery or is it going to be plugged in most of the time? Do you do anything that's demanding on the video subsystem?

I think that the largest laptop disks run around 320 GB which may or may not be enough for you.

They now have 500GB hard drives for laptops, though they aren't very common yet.

and like BC said I cant recommend a laptop without having any idea what it will be used for and what you want in a laptop.

Por.................................traits of himself. Obviously.

Just basic, I'm not a gamer. And I guess somewhere between 17in to 19in screen would be good?
Well from experience what do you guys recommend?
I don't know what would be important in college for a laptop.
All I know is that I want one with a web cam, or would it be better to buy one with a USB cord?

hmmm a 17 to 19 inch screen would drastically reduce the portability of the laptop, so if you want to be able to bring it to class and around campus easily a 15 or even 13 inch would be a much better choice, but if you just plan to keep it in your room a 17 inch would be good. Though you could just get an external monitor to make the screen bigger in your room and be able to move it around easily.

For webcams the built in ones will be about the same quality as a fairly inexpensive external one, but it also depends which laptop.

I would suggest the XPS 1330, it is a bit more on the expensive side though.
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

with integrated graphics though, NVidia has been having some problems lately

I think there's few options better than combining a tablet with a docking station. That way you can use it with a ton of peripherals, external drives, large monitors etc on the desktop, but it remains ultra portable on the go. It's definitely worth checking out if you are not a gamer.

Do most people in college go with a 13/15 inch or a 17/19 inch screen?

I'd say 13/15. The 17/19 inch screens cost more and weigh a lot more.
