Currently I’m a senior in high school and I was going to apply to Rutgers Engineering Program or other engineering programs near Rutgers like NJIT or Steven. My desktop is acting up a lot lately and my parents said that its ok for me to buy a laptop, because I would use it for college also. Which laptop should I get? (the two that I’m really looking into are the Macbook Pro, or the Dell XPS 15- but i’m open for more suggestions.) Max budget $1500.
MacBooks are more and more common with engineering and more complex analytical work, but the ones I would recommend (with 16Gb or RAM and at least a 500Mg SSD) will cost you at least $1,000 more for a 15". It is always a bit less complicated to run Microsoft computers, and for $1,500 you should be able to find a 15" Dell with at least 16GB of RAM.
Do some research…don’t rush…and make sure you use student discounts if possible.
