I will be going to college soon and I still have no idea what I want to major in. Eventually I realized the reason why I was so indecisive about my major, is because I have no interest in getting a conventional job. I have a big interest in becoming an entertainer(not specifying). I also do not want to major in the Fine Arts in fear of not being able to find a job. I am looking for a major that will get me a decent day job that will get me my own place and has a decent starting salary. So far I am considering accounting and economics. I would also consider an engineering major but I am not really good at math. Any suggestions?

Nuclear Engineering man

Thanks for the reply. I considered an engineering major but I am terrible at math. Also I forgot to mention I lived in New York city if thats relevant at all. Is Nuclear Engineering super tough if you are not good at math?

Kenny G got his degree in accounting. His father made him in case the “music thing” didn’t work out.

Accounting. Good job prospect, decent starting salary and no hard math.

Accounting but also computer science.

Nursing too. Education too-summers free.

You could study fine arts in a major city and bar tend or wait tables - a waiter at a top restaurant like in a hotel at the Ritz Carlton or at a Morton’s of Chicago, etc, can make from $60k - $90k per year. Those aren’t easy jobs to get though. Go to school in a city and valet cars, bar tend then work your way to those plumb waiting jobs.

Asking people on CC this question is a waste of time. Seriously, 80% of your feedback is going to say the typical majors: engineer, accounting, computer science, pharmacy (not a major)…etc. But i mean honestly, who can foresee the future. Be realistic and major in something reasonable and something you love.

for:
- no one can foresee the future
- if your passionate about a subject, you can go beyond and over with that subject

The guy simply asked about getting a job. He advice here is reasonable and fair. I even suggested waiting tables at 4-5 star restaurants. How far out of the box is that for CC? Nobody says that here.

*you’re

Really, If your a guy I’m going to have to suggest the trades, They make lotsa of money and usually only work 9-5

If your a girl I’m going to have to suggest accounting/economics or nursing, as most trades jobs are not female friendly.
