My S is about to start his senior year in HS. We have a list of the colleges he wants to apply to and have visited most if not all. What is the best online tool for checking if he is a match? I have tried several and I always wonder how up to date the information is. Thanks!!
If you go to the website of any school your son is interested in, you can find the Common Data Set for that school. The CDS tells you the 25%/75% range for GPA, SAT, ACT, the percentage who graduated in top 10%, top 25%, etc. It’s a good way to get detailed admissions info for a school. You might have to run a search on each site to find the data, but it should be somewhere on each site.
College Board Big Future, particularly the Applying and Paying tabs for each school, is a great place to start. (You need the desktop site, not the minimal version they serve be default to a phone or iPad.) If you aren’t sure if something is the most current, then the Common Data Set file on the school website is great for double-checking.
Collegedata.com makes it more clear how many students without need get merit.
