What are the best colleges for B.M. in music composition or film scoring. I know USC is like the best for film scoring which im very interested in. What colleges are the best for music composition and or film scoring preferibly on the west coast? I live in Vancouver, Washington a suburb of Portland, Oregon
I'm about to end my sophomore year heres what im at
2.75 cumm. GPA so far, have finished two years of spanish and 3 years of math already, taking AP World History and have taken Pre-Ap Biology and Chemistry including taking AP Test this year, taking AP US History next year as well as AP Language and Composition. Avid music student, played trombone since 6th grade taken private lessons with Henry Henniger, professor of trombone at University of Oregon, Ron Babcock, professor of trombone at Portland State University, Mike Oft and Toby Oft, the latter of which is the principal of the Boston Sypmhony and the other his father, have made Western Internation Band Clinic as a sophomore, went to state solo contest for Baritone this year as a sophomore, placed 2nd at districts. Best Bass Trombone in high school jazz band history, performed a bass trombone solo ballad at contest that got a 82 overall score, section leader of baritones in marching band, invited and recruited to Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps as a strong baritone player in April and marching with them for the next few years and this summer. Auditioning for portland youth philharmonic this fall as well as state jazz band, concert band and possibly paccific crest youth jazz orchestra. Have done winter indoor dumline 2 years going to be 4. I have a love of writing music and hearing it come out and directing it. Written two pep band songs for jazz band, the music for a drum corps show, 3 high school jazz band pieces performed by high school jazz band, one concert band piece based of Shostakovich's work. My mom says I have motivation in the long run not in short term, hence the poor grade performance but high hopes. Favorite style of music is marching band style, Russian Classical Marches, Film scores; they dominate my ipod
I'm mainly looking at USC, money shouldnt be an issue unless semester tuition is above $40,000
I'm also looking at
Indiana-Bloomington
U-Mich Ann Arbor
University of Oregon
Ohio State University
University of Kansas-Lawrence
San Fran conservatory of Music
Berklee College of Music
Central Washington University
What are my small chances? Which ones offer scholarships to music students? What would my SAT scores have to be to balance the poor grade performance? And if getting an AA at a community college would be needed it wouldnt be an issue to get that, will it probably be needed?
