Hey y'all,
What do you think are the best careers for business majors, overall? By that I mean one that has a fair salary, good hours (allowing time for family), good job prospects, and job satisfaction?

i am concentrating in strategy hoping to land a job in strategic consulting. Consulting has the best of both worlds. You work less hours than ibankers, get to travel a lot(yet still have time to spend with family), the culture at workplaces is great, and if you have a slick mouth, you become a partner in 2 or 3 years and make millions.

Trust me: consulting is a two edge sword. It involves a LOT of travel. At first, this may sound like fun to see many destinations. However, traveling gets very, very old. Airports are no fun with all of the new security measures, and airplanes tend to me less roomy.

In addition, if you have a family, you won't be seeing them much as a consultant. In fact, trying to even start a relationship or keep one is tough with all of the traveling that is necessary for the job.

yeah my father in law did consulting straight out of business school and he was gone four days of the week and missed two child births. she still hasnt forgiven him. but he is getting back into consulting now the kids are all out of the house. im thinking i might latch on to his coat tails and get into the idustry through him.

plus unlike financial services consulting can be consistently profitable (not cyclic) without overbearing market pressures dictating your success.

is strategy the same or similar to logistics. whats the differents between Business Admin and Business Managment?

consulting is not consistenly profitable, look what happened after 911, how much you make is largely dependent on the industry you work in.
