@57special my older son got the Flip 4 for Christmas two years ago and loves it. I’m getting the same one for my younger son for Christmas this year. I’d get the newer one but he doesn’t need the latest/greatest so the 4 is fine for him, but the 5 gets great reviews as well.
Younger D’s bf worked for awhile at Fluke. My husband got lots of treats/gifts from their employee garage sale. All the things to thrill an engineer’s heart.
Extra chargers and cords - leave one at work or in the car
Apple pen/stylus/Android equivalent
Car diagnostic tester thing
Not electronic, but a decent phone case
If they have an Apple Watch or fit bit versa watch, the protective screen covers are great, esp if they wear it while doing outdoors stuff where it can get scratched
My daughter has an iPad stand/charger that allows it to be stood up at the proper angle for reading recipes. Very handy for a cook
Does something solar-powered count as electronic?? I got this for my ds who likes camping, hiking, and attending musical festivals (where one camps).
My son got the Flip 4 3-4 years ago, and it goes everywhere with him. Still works, and sounds great. We think the Flip 5 sounds a bit better, but they are very similar.
I’m guessing this is for a Christmas gift. Different people appreciate different types of electronics, which makes it difficult to generalize. Rather than get something that is generally popular or a hot gift this year, the better gift is often one that makes it clear that you are thinking about the recipient’s specific interests/comments.
For example, one of the best electronics gifts for me would be a part on eBay that allows me to expand my older home automation system to better support low wattage LED llghts. Most of the year nobody sells any of this part, but one guy is currently selling 4 for $50 each. I’d love that gift, but 99.9+% of the population would hate it.
It’s difficult to recommend gifts, without knowing anything about their interests and personality. Maybe he’d like a gaming system, or sunglasses that Bluetooth music, or a smart dog collar that supports GPS location + activity tracking to phone, or special gloves for using phone in cold winter weather, or …
