Who is the best professor for PHY 303k? I expect MaineLonghorn and iambored10 probably have input on this but anyone who has knowledge about the course feel free to respond as well.

I had Coker for 303K- He, IMO, was a great professor. He did alot of demonstrations which were interesting and helped students connect the concepts discussed in that unit to real life. He is a stickler for tricky questions, but you should be able to make up your grade with the iClicker quizzes. I think that was the only interesting physics class I have taken at UT besides Physical Chemistry which I love.

I took physics 30 years ago! I had McCormick, who is listed as Professor Emeritus now. I didn’t like him as a teacher.

ya but I was thinking cuz your son is an engineering student lol

Okay my options are ANTONIEWICZ, FLORIN, and TURNER.

So who is the best in yalls experience out of these 3?

And any tips on doing well in this course?

Scratch out Turner- My Roommate had him last Spring and said he was horrible.

k so its down to florin and antoniewicz

who wins

I had Prof. Chiu last semester and they’re doing a different approach using a “Matter and Interactions” textbook. It’s a lot more conceptual rather than computational, and pretty easy. Both he and his TA (Matt Haley) really know their stuff and are glad to help. Chiu especially changed his office hours upon request, setup appointments to meet at different times, and held extra review sessions before tests and the final.

well that sucks cuz chiu is not teaching it this semester

Chiu teaches 303L not 303K

He teaches K in the fall and L in the spring.

would it be dumb to choose the physics class that has no professor listed?

i am currently in florin, but the slot with no professor would fit my schedule better

My son decided to take Physics at ACC this summer.

uh oh it’s that bad mainelonghorn?

well i changed to antoniewicz, hopefully he is a good prof

^ Not really, in fact, it’s recommended by the advisors here. I’ll most likely be taking Physics 2 at a CC this summer.

Good luck to you, though.

wait Xcellerator when you say “Not really” do you mean its not really that bad at UT or what?

And I am planning on taking physics 2 at a cc as well because I heard its harder

I don’t understand why so many kids opt to take physics at ACC. It’s so inconvenient, and most engineers I’m friends with had no trouble with 303K/303L at all.

Anyways, I have Turner this semester for K, and so far I don’t mind him. He seems intelligent, helpful and more than fair when it comes to grading.
