Best Poli Sci and Econ? Undergraduate

What are the best undergraduate universities in the US and UK for political science? And out of these schools are there any that offer a dual Poli Sci/ econ program? Thank you so much

There’s the famous PPE at Oxford, and the only good (IMO) one in the US is at Claremont McKenna College. (The other ones AFAIK do not have the ‘tutoring’ system where 2 students share a teacher for regular mini-discussions.

You could double major or major/minor at any college that has both programs.

There’s the International Politics and Economics major at Middlebury College.

@volcabass‌ check out the Huntsman program at Penn.

What about just political science schools, which are the best ones?

If you are looking at the absolute best schools in the US for politics and government, I would say the big four Ivies are regarded as the best: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Columbia. Georgetown also certainly deserves a shout for its connections in Washington. I’m not sure what “level” of school you are looking for.

Yeah I am looking for an elite school like the one’s mentioned. Do you know anything about Brown’s or Northwestern’s Poli Sci program?

Georgetown is not well known for Political Science.

This is a listing from an old CC thread from about five years ago. Things haven’t changed much:

“I’m planning to double major in Economics and Political Science. Do you know of schools that are good in both careers?..”

Columbia University (top 10 in both)
Cornell University (top 20 in both)
Duke University (top 10 in Political Science, top 20 in Econ)
Harvard University (top 5 in both)
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (top 5 in Econ, top 10 in Political Science)
New York University (top 10 in Econ, top 20 in Political Science)
Northwestern University (top 10 in Econ, top 20 in Political Science)
Princeton University (top 5 in both)
Stanford University (top 5 in both)
University of California-Berkeley (top 5 in Political Science, top 10 in Econ)
University of California-Los Angeles (top 20 in both)
University of California-San Diego (top 10 in Political Science, top 20 in Econ)
University of Chicago (top 5 in Econ, top 10 in Political Science)
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (top 5 in Political Science, top 10 in Econ)
University of Pennsylvania (top 10 in Econ, top 20 in Political Science)
University of Rochester (top 20 in both)
University of Wisconsin-Madison (top 20 in both)
Yale University (top 5 in Political Science, top 10 in Econ)

@rjkofnovi‌ I am wondering where you get the idea that G’town is not well known for poli sci? Seems USA today rates them as #3 ahead of the amazing programs at Harvard and Yale.

“Georgetown University is located in America’s capital. Its location allows for strong exposure to government and political science, making it no surprise that this school has one of the top poly-sci programs in the country”

Although Georgetown is strong in economics as well as political science I share the feelings of @Wharton2020 that the Huntsman program at U Penn, which leverages many of the strengths of the university, would be made to order for the OP.

I would also suggest that the OP consider much more than the programs reputation. How would he/she fit in?/is there undergrad research you would want to take part in?

Even though these rankings are for the graduate level, Georgetown is no where near the top for Political Science:

http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-humanities-schools/political-science-rankings

Georgetown comes in at #40.

Just to be clear… There are 2600+ accredited universities in the US, 40/2600… Clearly just average…

Bottom line for the OP: find the place where you fit in. It is much less important to obscure what works for you with what anyone’s rating says.

Just to be clear…The OP asked about the best schools for PoliSci. I never said GT was average.
