I'm planning on transferring to a UC next year, but I'm confused as to which UC has the best political science program.

Obviously if I get into UCLA or Berkeley I'll probably go there regardless of what other schools I get into.

But I'm confused as to whether UC Santa Barbara really has the best political science program. I hear from everyone about what a great program it has. I even heard rumors that they'll send you on an internship to Washington DC.

But I checked some official rankings and it looks like UC San Diego way beat UC Santa Barbara.

I know nothing about UCSD at all. Is it really better than UCSB?

I’m pretty sure that the program at SD is rated higher than the one at SB. In regards to getting sent to DC though for an internship, you can do that at every UC, not just SB.

So… SB is pretty low. And about the internship to DC, they offer that to almost everyone in UCs. My friends from both SD, LA, AND Davis got the letter recommending them apply for DC internship and they’re not even majoring in poli sci.

Here’s kind of what’s holding me back from committing to UCSD.

Some people have told me this is a stupid idea, but I want to double major in Political Science and in English.

The reason is, I want to teach English some day, but I’m also really interested in political science. I’m just so interested in both things that I hate the idea of choosing one over the other.

And I’ve been told by multiple people that UCSD basically doesn’t even have an English department.

UCSD has a Literature dept., which has a Literatures in English B.A. program. I don’t know how different that is from a English degree, but if you want to get an English degree you might want to look elsewhere.
