Best Premed Major

I am an incoming freshman, planning to study on the Premed track. There are three majors that I’m debating between: Molecular and Cell Biology, Biological Sciences, and Physiology and Neurobiology. What would be the best to prepare for med school?

AAMC handles applications for US medical schools(except the Texas schools, which are handled here: https://www.tmdsas.com/medical/homepage.html).

Here are the general requirements for a medical school application:

and

Any successful medical school application starts with a high GPA and MCAT score. So pick the major you like best, as students tend to do best in classes when they like what they are doing.

Also when picking a major, have a Plan B as many premeds change their minds along the way and of those that actually applied in last cycle, approx. 59% failed to start anywhere. Good luck.

All of the above majors will prepare you for medical school. As mentioned previously, MCAT score is important, so prepare well for MCAT. There is a lot of overlap among all those majors- pick the one which you like the most.
