Best Professors at UT

On the other hand, the reviews done on campus at UT are filled out very quickly and with minimal thought by the overwhelming majority of students (since they are done at the end of a class) while the myedu reviews are at least voluntary where someone would respond with more purpose.

I’m glad they have a decent physics prof now. Back in the dark ages (1980/81), both mine were HORRIBLE!!! They made it pretty clear they had no interest teaching freshmen. I was so happy to get that nightmare behind me (and I ended up with a 3.8 GPA, so I was a good student).

Well, if you’re an electrical engineer, Yale Patt is an incredible (but difficult) professor. He teaches (EE306) Introduction to Computing class and (EE 360N)Computer Architecture.

Well myedu has worked wonderfully for me at A&M. Many reviews and pretty accurate grade distributions have resulted in me picking great profs! lol Well it’s a good thing UT has it’s own system too.

Also, what is the cutoff for an A at UT now since they changed their grading system this year? :confused: Is it a 93?

@Xcellerator:
90-92 is an A-
92-100 is an A

@quantize: Definitely agree with you on Yale Patt. My EE friends who had his class said he was a great professor (graduated with a Ph.D from Stanford in EE) but his class is ridiculously hard. If you get a C average on all his tests, he curves it to where your guranteed an A in his class. Some say its a weed out class to get incompetent EE’s out.

Eric Anslyn (Chemistry) is my favorite teacher at UT. He’s challenging and has very high expectations of students (at least in his grad courses), but can explain topics very concisely and eloquently. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in chemistry.

On another note: those of you enrolled at UT, did you know that course instructor survey (CIS) results are posted on UT Direct? You can see average scores as rated by students at UT from the class evaluations for every prof all the way back to 2002. No comments are posted, but at least this way you get another source of info on how good/bad a prof might be…

93-100 is an A. But it also depends on the teacher/course. Many classes don’t even use the +/-. It’s up to the teacher.
Also, check out gagaspace.com. It has ratings of professors (for free). It’s local.

Dr. Laude is by far the best professor at UT.
