Best Programs for Data Science?

Just wondering what schools have the best Data Science Graduate Programs.

Thanks!

Data science is a new field, and all of the master’s programs in the area are new. That said, it primarily draws from computer science and mathematics/statistics, sometimes with some business classwork in there and sometimes classwork from more specialized programs (like operations research or industrial engineering). So generally programs at universities with strong component part departments (CS, math/stats, etc.) will have the better data science programs. You also want to look at programs that have strong ties with employers and that have gotten involved in the data science game early. Some programs have been training data scientists for years, even before they had a formal program in it.

Stanford, Georgia Tech, Columbia, NYU, and Carnegie Mellon come to mind.

The University of Rochester has a large new program

Check into non-degree certificate programs like SAS Institute and Coursera

^I think a non-degree certificate program would be a great idea if you already had a graduate degree in statistics or CS and were just trying to learn new skills (although I wouldn’t do it at Coursera; I’d pick a brick-and-mortar university that had a program and complete it there). But if you have a BA, just a graduate certificate won’t be enough to break into data science - you really need a grad degree for that career right now.
