Best Public/Private Colleges in California for Entrepreneurship

Hey,

I'm looking to see if anyone could recommend any undergrad business programs for people who are looking to start their own business? for entrepreneurs, essentially. I know UCSB & UCSD have great programs, but apparently it's suited to those who want to major in accounting? This is what I currently have so far:

Private
USC
Santa Clara
Stanford

Public
UC Berkeley

Also, if I want to get my MBA, what are some options I can have in my BS? (liberal arts, economics, etc.) Thanks for your help.

If you want to be an entrepreneur Stanford would be the best school on this list simply because they have an amazing number of successful, local entrepreneurs who often visit campus and students have access to them. Study something that relates to the business you want to start.

People are not educated to be entrepreneurs. It’s a spirit, an inner drive. You can certainly pick up skills to help you run a business, but there are few entrepreneur programs for a good reason.

Also, the most elite jobs in business usually don’t go to people who studied business as an undergrad. Most entrepreneurs work for someone else for a while. Stanford would also position you for the best jobs.

let’s just say i’m not “stanford” material. although i love the place to death, as I’m part of a youth council in the asian liver center over there (unfortunately, they couldn’t pull any strings for me.) I can always just hang around the campus frequently and befriend all of them. but as far as academics go and i guess also networking and connections, what other schools would anyone recommend?

im interested in the same question.

for help, whats your gpa / sat so people can pick some good ones for you.

Cal Poly offers Entrepreneurship concentration under its business program.

GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1820

If I want to get my MBA, what are some options I can have in my BS? (liberal arts, economics, etc.) I’ve just considered majoring in accounting, but I’m still not sure yet. Thanks for your help.

bump. I’m still a bit confused as to what I could get as my BS

If you want to pursue an MBA an BS will do. The key is to show career development that would benefit with an MBA. Thus, choosing an MBA in which you can show competitive career development, development that would be considered advance, would be best.

Get that SAT up and you may have a shot at USC. Besides Stanford, USC is your best option for entrepreneurial pursuits in California, especially SoCal. You can make incredible connections at that school. USC is right underneath Columbia and some other Ivy League schools for producing the most billionaires per capita. Entrepreneurship is mostly about motivation and networking. USC can take care of the latter. (BTW I don’t even go to USC)
