I'm a junior, and I'm really interested in studying either Environmental Studies or Environmental Science. I would prefer a school with Environmental Studies, but am open to focusing more on the science part.

I consider myself fairly competitive, but I'll give you my stats and you can decide for yourself. 34 ACT. about a 3.6 unweighted, 4.2 weighted. NMF. Editor of Newspaper, Captain of Cross Country. A handful of other extracurriculars.

I'd love your ideas on who has the best Environmental Studies and Environmental Science programs! While I would prefer a midsize university near a city, please refer me to any school regardless of size and location, that has a GOOD program (I can easily find schools that have "A" program, but I would love CC'ers help finding GOOD ones)

THanks so much

Look into the University of Colorado at Boulder, very good enviromental studies school.

Thanks for the uc boulder recommendation… If anyone else has other ideas I’d love to hear them! Ideally, id like to be east coast though…

Also, if I’m interested in environmental law and/or policy as a career would I be better off with an undergrad in environmental studies or environemtal science?

Thanks for all of you guys help in advance!!

Middlebury College. First undergrad Environmental Studies program in the U.S. Very popular major, fantastic program.

Thanks swimmingjew… does anyone (like US News or some group of Environmental Lawyers/policy makers/professors/ etc) come out with a rankings list of environmental studies… I’m NOT obsessed at all with ivy status like many people on here, but I think it is fair to look for someone official’s ranking of this. please pass on any site!! thanks for all of you guys’ help!!

Look at Huxley College of WWU in Bellingham, Wa. Different world up there. Gorgeous campus. 90 minute drive to Seattle. Vancouver and Victoria BC a short drive (and/or ferry). One of my son’s went to Princeton, the other to WWU. I preferred WWU. Kids and faculty and administration very friendly and open.

“I think it is fair to look for someone official’s ranking of this.”

What’s an “official’s ranking?” There are rankings by magazine editors, and others.

Reed has recently added an Environmental Studies major: [Reed College | Environmental Studies | Home](Environmental Studies - Reed College)

magazine editors are official enough. Will you post that link, vossron?

Sorry, I just meant USN&WR in general, but I don’t know of any ranked lists of environmental studies. Sorry to mislead…

ah gotcha. no problem… but if anyone else has found an e.s. ranking, I would greatly appreciate it.

I’m really liking Tufts University. Does anyone know how strong their environmental studies program is?

College of the Atlantic would be a great safety- they’re all about the environment.

McGill university in Montreal, if youre willing to study outside of the US

they have a huge enviro facility and the school is cheap

Huxley college at WWU as mentioned above. I know a good deal about it, message me if you have questions.

Thanks for the CoA mention… I’ll definitely look into that. If anyone has any info on the Tufts Dartmouth or Williams programs, I’d greatly appreciate it
