<p>OP, can you commute to any of the PSU satellite campuses? If so you could do a 2+2 so that you don’t have room expenses for two years.
If your stats are stellar you could apply to the Millennium Scholars program.
PSU’s location is not ideal for PetE but they have really above average employment placement services for their students & grads that could be a big asset.</p>

<p>Penn doesn’t even offer Petroleum Engineering; I’m assuming you’re referring to Penn State. It’s an excellent school for PE, but as others have pointed out, it’s very expensive ($34,000/yr) in state and they’re VERY stingy with merit dollars.</p>
<p>Nonetheless, I wouldn’t waste time or application fees on out-of-state schools that don’t offer good merit money, unless the total COA is cheaper than Penn State. I would cross-reference this list with the CC list of schools that offer guaranteed merit dollars to come up with a reasonable list.</p>
